In 2005 MILS was officially licensed as a Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment site serving all of Nova Scotia with the exception of the immediate Halifax/Dartmouth area.

In 2006 the Teaching Immigrants English (TIE) program was developed to assist newcomers (permanent residents, convention refugees and foreign-born Canadians) living throughout the province of Nova Scotia with ESL services.

The Computer Business Lab was introduced in 2007 for permanent residents using an expansive collection of software to introduce them to many career choices in Nova Scotia and learning for business techniques. The headquarters for the Computer Business Lab is located at the Forsyth Adult Learning Centre, Dartmouth and a satellite program at the Quinpool Educational Center (QEC) Quinpool Road, Halifax
